Choosing a Niche Market for Expertise-Based Entrepreneurs - Part II
Filed Under Business | Posted on November 22, 2009
The unfortunate thing about finding a niche is that many small business owners are not trained in marketing or how to market their products or services. They just arent educated enough to know how or where to look for their niche. But when they are shown how, they finally discover it - everything falls into right places.
The biggest thing when doing marketing is you have to learn. Perhaps taking a course on marketing could help. Or talk to those who are experienced at it for help. If you, as a small business owner, work with other entrepreneurs, and you know how to market, you can teach them how to market their business. Once they know how they will find their business will take off.

Becoming an effective boss is critical for any entrepreneur with plans to grow a company. On top of the myriad of legal, managerial, and personnel issues an owner must deal with, most also find themselves in the role of mediator — dealing with employees who don't (or won't) get along.
The cardinal rule of handling problems between employees is don't ignore the issue. Any conflict that lasts more than a day or two must be dealt with head-on. Allowing inter-employee conflicts to fester results in reduced productivity, lower morale, and can strongly influence the level of respect the workers have for you, the owner.

Got a hankering to increase your incomebut feeling a little off balance because of the constant negative predictions about the economy?
Dire economic forecasts have certainly caused consumers to hold on to their money more tightly than they were even 2 or 3 years ago. The good news is that it actually presents a wonderful opportunity for creative, forward-thinking entrepreneurs.
You see, people are still spending. The big BUT is they want to be shown clear value before they'll part with their dollars. And that's where the silver lining is. Because even in a boom time (which is sure to come again, have no fear), the business owner who knows how to inject value in her program and product offerings will always come out ahead.

Internet Liability Insurance

Any type of business needs the protection of insurance to secure it against various hazards. Business by its very nature is a financially risky proposition, thus needs to be safeguarded for growth and profitability. An Internet or online business is very different from traditional brick and mortar business as it has no solid spatial structure and does not have customer footfalls.
Internet Businesses:
Most Internet businesses are home based or run from specially rented or owned space. The equipment required is minimal. The whole thing is based around the computers. With the ever-changing technology, even the big, bulky computers have been converted into sleek, portable, technically advanced laptops. Homeowners’ insurance may cover basic business equipment such as personal computer, laptop and related computer equipment.
Five Things I Hate About Press Releases
Filed Under Business | Posted on February 1, 2009
I think it’s a real shame how so many business owners agonize over the proper format of a press release. What’s important about a document that is supposed to be both informative and persuasive is the content, not the layout.
Should it have some semblance of order? Absolutely. But that should not be the author’s first priority, particularly when the great majority of them end up in one of two places: The recycling bin or an editor’s deleted items folder.
It’s not that assigning editors don’t want news or that press releases aren’t effective. They can be very effective when done right. But most are formatted in such a way that’s counterintuitive to the sender’s end goal. I can’t tell you how many press releases I’ve come across that had more information about the company’s founder or sponsors, than the event or service they were trying to promote.

According to the US Small Business Administration (SBA) there are approximately 17 million businesses with only one employee (the Owner, President, Principal or Founder–whatever you call it, it’s JUST you. Having your own business can be exhilarating! After all, YOU & YOU ALONE decide on what you do–you’re your “Own Boss!” After all, you and you alone, are responsible for making your business thrive or take a nose dive and “crash and burn.” Sixty-six percent of new businesses fail in first three years, according to the SBA. You and you alone are responsible for your financial income! You and YOU ALONE…The SBA cites that lack of entrepreneurial qualities, lack of planning and lack of information as the basic reasons why small businesses fail… and most failure occurs during first five years! By taking some assessments, you can see if you’re the type that wants coworkers and craves public contact, or one who enjoys working on your own…a coach can assess this and serve as cheerleader/sounding board, who asks the tough questions to help you plan and provide information.
Making A Strategic Plan For Your Small Or Medium Business

I. What is a Strategic Plan?
Business Owners or Managers are often so preoccupied with day to day immediate issues in their business they lose sight of their ultimate objectives. Taking a step back and reviewing their business is essential. There is no guarantee of success, but without it a business is much more likely to fail. A strategic plan is NOT a Business Plan. It is likely to be a very short or short document whereas a Business Plan is very detailed and much more substantial. A sound plan will:
• Serve as a framework for making decisions or for securing future support or approval as required
• Provide a basis for more detailed planning
